Originally recorded and released by Stebbing Recording, Auckland in the late 1950s this is a re-release of Guide Rangi and the Te Arawa Concert Party’s powhiri, waiata, haka, etc. for visitors to Aotearoa.

Ngā Mōrehu = The survivors : the life histories of eight Māori women

In eight remarkable oral histories, Nga Morehu brings alive the experience of Maori women from the mid-twentieth century.

This version is in te reo Māori. It traces the journey between 1972 and 2008 to revitalise the Maori language. It provides interviews with two dozen people who were active in the fight for the Maori language and includes photographs of key events and people.

Robinson, J. (2011) The corruption of New Zealand democracy: a Treaty industry overview

A controversial work on a different view of Treaty of Waitangi issues.  The publisher’s description includes “Maori society was in disarray in the early nineteenth century. While slavery in the deep south of the USA was terrible, in New Zealand it was brutal, with unexpected death and cannibalism a constant threat. There was mass killing. Most of the recordings in this 2 CD set were made at either Papakura Military Camp, New Zealand, May 1940; at Maadi Camp, Cairo, Egypt in 1941; and North Africa in 1942 or Taranto, Italy November 1943.

To celebrate this years event the CPIT Library is hosting poetry reading in Te reo featuring Hana O’Regan and students  from Te Puna Whanaga on Tuesday the  5th July at 12.30pm.

Hana’ s book of poetry Kupu : a collection of contemporary Māori poetry is available in the CPIT Library.

There are also a number of other events taking place on campus including an Iwi Off on Thursday the 7th of July, 10 – 12 at Te Puna Wanaka, CPIT.  An Iwi Off is an opprotunity to represent your iwi through Kapa Haka and the performance of iwi anthems.

While we tidied things up we made a few changes around the place. The Maori and Pasifika collections have moved  and are now located at the start of the collection, straight ahead when you come in the door.

The fiction, or Leisure collection has been re-located to the far corner, alongside quiet study carrels.

The Fiction or Leisure collection is now located in the far corner of the Library.

To create some space in the shelving upstairs we have moved the food and hospitality collection downstairs in front of the issue desk. This includes anything with  TX as a shelf location.

The POD is temporarily unavailable as a student drop-in as it is being used for teaching. When there are no classes it may be accessible from the Atrium corridor.
